My Child's Wants...

Image
Last week - one of the harder mornings - I woke up reading this headline in my feed.. i-love-you-enough-to-not-give-you-everything-you-want It woke me up in the way my alarm cannot. "How come my thoughts were echoing in my feed without me writing anything so far?" were my thoughts in the half awakened state.  I had to re-read the article couple of times to comprehend that the writer has said pretty much everything that most parents do or think. At least the ones I know of.  At the same time, I also know of parents who don't seem to believe in the funda anymore.  Ok - for those who didn't have the patience to read the above article (I will take it as a compliment 😉 'cos you are so much keen on reading my post 😄 ) .. but the topic today is - I will Not give Everything my child WANTS.  Our generation is a lot different than our forefathers.  We don't believe in only fulfilling needs these days.  Our wants play a very impor...

1st Skating Race

Image
So last week I posted an update about the upcoming race that I wanted N to participate in here -  don't want to race The race was on Sunday.  In spite of me assuring her that this is an experience and I am ok even if you don't win... Till Thursday she was furious and mad at me cos I was "making" her participate. Friday before class I left all irritation and anger outside the door when we walked in home from school and spoke to her. "N, you have 2 choices. 1- kick, cry, whine, be mad and take part in the race . 2 - take it easy, think this is an experience, enjoy the process and take part in the race ."  Needless to say, the sorted part of her brain agreed to the 2nd. She interacted with her coach about the race after diligent practice and we came home.  Saturday whole day was enjoyable at a friend's new home lunch party with friends  and fun. She was reluctant & tired but didn't put up a fight when i asked her to practice a little in t...

Uri Movie - A mom's take

Image
#Howsthejosh #HighSir  Uri-The Surgical Strike I had refused to see the movie when J suggested. I find the war and e'thing around it disturbing. But its difficult to say no to S - the charm of our group when she suggests something..  So in spite of me and J wanting to watch it together I went to see the movie without A s.i.n.g.l.e expectation! Since N wasn't there with me I didn't care to  catch the reviews or what critiques had to say about it.. And boy was it a treat?! Hell No! It was an Experience..I would remember for a long time. In spite of my sensitivity towards loud noises and fast-moving scenery I want to watch it once again on the big screen.  Few things that clinged on to me - how the little kiddo has a fantasy of joining the army just by watching her dad and uncle taking up those roles so gracefully. It must not be easy for kids to be away from their dad for such long periods of time! How difficult it would be for the pregnant lady n...

Mom gets Surprise Birthday Parties!

Image
If rounding 3 decades means soo much fun, laughter and masti - then I feel its the best age of life!  I know many who are sad to see the wrinkles on the cheeks and grays in their hair, and that's what makes them afraid of their 40s.. I somehow can never  relate to it! After all, we have earned the wrinkles and silver strands along with the stretch marks!  No - it doesn't mean one should not strive to look smart, beautiful and graceful - after all these characteristics  are synonymed with a woman's beauty for  generations.. However I feel it is very important to be happy from within to look happier and feel gorgeous! Which I do at the age of 38! More than I ever did..  I am at a juncture of life when I am AT PEACE..Content...Happy..Thankful for my life and everything that I have. (Even the extra kangaroo pouch ;-) ) And last week made it sooo complete and so much more joyful! One of my very close friends A did something very special for me....

Sound of Chaos

Image
😁 Yes you read it right! Sound of Chaos!!  The TV commercials and programs are not the best sources to give you the correct picture when the cool and composed Mom packs tiffins first thing in the morning and wakes up her child(ren) with a smile and drops them off to the bus/school in a ready avatar!  I am not saying it can never happen.. its just very unlikely!!  8/10 households become war-zones when its time for kids to go to school and more often than not even when parent(s) have to get to their work place in time.  And its E.V.E.R.Y single day... ! (remember Ishaan from TZP) And as much as we rely and depend on our house-hold helpers, they just have to be around during or just after your early morning chaos is over.  So whatever happens to 20 minutes of Silence?! It obviously gets packed up between the 2 layers of tiffin box or first 10 pages of your child(ren)'s book required for the 1st period.  Yes there are lad...
