Uri Movie - A mom's take

Uri-The Surgical Strike
I had refused to see the movie when J suggested. I find the war and e'thing around it disturbing. But its difficult to say no to S - the charm of our group when she suggests something..
So in spite of me and J wanting to watch it together I went to see the movie without A s.i.n.g.l.e expectation! Since N wasn't there with me I didn't care to catch the reviews or what critiques had to say about it.. And boy was it a treat?! Hell No! It was an Experience..I would remember for a long time. In spite of my sensitivity towards loud noises and fast-moving scenery I want to watch it once again on the big screen.
Few things that clinged on to me -
how the little kiddo has a fantasy of joining the army just by watching her dad and uncle taking up those roles so gracefully. It must not be easy for kids to be away from their dad for such long periods of time! How difficult it would be for the pregnant lady not to see her husband for long absences and then suddenly he is gone.. And she is supposed to be proud of it?!
How difficult it must be for the moms dealing with losses of various men in the house?! kabhi bhai, kabhi husband and phir beta/beti bhi? Is it even possible for a normal human being to be so giving?..so brave?..so powerful? And then people say Women are the weaker sex!??? Hell..go and ask those who put on a brave face and send their loved ones to serve the country without any darn selfish reason in their backpack! But I think just like another friend S once shared - "that's the way of life for those army families!"
Can I ever do that? Can I ever persuade my child wear that uniform and go and fight for the country - perhaps Not. I am way too selfish than that.. But will I ever stop her from going? Perhaps No. I won't be able to do that either...
The actors have displayed those emotions oh-so-wonderfully..
(Spoiler alert) The scene when the little girl gives the war cry on her dad's coffin has been inspired from a real life incident. But did it fail to give me goosebumps or tears?.. No! It was very painful to watch.
The same scene required the protagonist to shout out the war cry while paying his respects to his brother-in-law/fellow officer/friend .. and the actor did such a brilliant job in conveying the exact sentiments..
Just like the above scene, there were so many scenes that spoke to us without less or No dialogues at all. Some just out rightly stood out with just the background scores and the actors' brilliant body language.
Another thing that I liked immensely about the movie being a war story was it was shot and dealt with very very practically and with sensitivity. Guess a new age director can achieve that with his ideas & fresh take. It didn't have the extreme horrifying emotions of movies like Border and LOC.. in spite of that it didn't fail to give us goosebumps during a few scenes. The blood boiled when Indian soldiers were killed.. and the anxiety grew 4 folds when the strike was about to begin ..followed by a sense of relief when the mission was accomplished! Even the lil chemistry that characters have displayed was played subtly but beautifully..
I don't want to even touch the political aspect of either the actual strike or the movie, but I recommend every body - every Indian go see this movie. It makes us proud of our Army ..our Motherland once more!
